Mega Corps In the Anime Pirating Business?

Could what the Daily Kos be saying is true? They have been working on some on some reports dealing with Financial Issues and IT Malfeasance from Goldman Sachs:

Here is the issue. There is a post by a member on the site named BruceMcF (Bruce McFadden) in which he says this:

For those of you catching up on what in the hell this is all about, MarzGurl covers the original incident that brought this to my attention.

Long story short, I was curious how this bootleg anime streaming site was obtaining streaming, since they claimed that they did not host any of the streams (but as MarzGurl points out, they actively upload bootlegs onto free streaming sites), and went looking.

And it turned out that a lot of their videos were stored at “MySpaceCDN.com”, which a search of whois.com reveals is 20th Century Fox. Or, in other words, one of the companies in the same NewsCorp Media Empire owned by Rupert Murdoch that includes the Faux News Channel that organizes political rallies, pays Glen Beck and Bill O’Really?, etc.

He Continues:

This is the same NewsCorp that aggresively pursues what it views as itscopyright interests. However, while the Digital Millenium Copyright Act is designed to protect the interests of big media empires (after all, they helped write it), it seems that it does not work so well in protecting the interests of the little guy.

This is not to say that Rupert’s NewsCorp Media Empire deliberately violates the law. Oh, no, they are engaged in that kind of profiteering from piracy. They are more like the support base that sells supplies to ships, and the ship’s name seems newly painted and there seems to be a few bloodstains on its chests of dubloons, well, a busy support base doesn’t have time to worry about that kind of stuff.

Fox News’s parent NewsCorp is simply allowing people to upload, and waiting until the rights owner sends in the paperwork before they spend any time looking into it.

And if that undermines the actual creators (CNN Video) in a medium being hammered by the bootlegs NewsCorp servers are hosting, well, NewsCorp seems to have no reason to care.

Unless direct action spotlights the hypocrisy of their stance on copyright.

Indeed, FoxNews is one of the owners of Hulu.com, which is one of the sites that streams legitimate licensed versions of some of these series – and instead of cleaning up its own act as far as hosting bootleg streams that compete against Hulu.com – they instead argue that Hulu.com has to drop its free access model.

I wonder whether they have explained to their business partners in Hulu.com that NewsCorp cannot be bothered to take down bootleg anime streams from MySpace that compete against Hulu.com programming. Indeed, Disney and NBC ought to be asking, in their own interest, the same question as to why NewsCorp servers turn up as one of the servers of choice for bootleg streaming anime sites?

Because if what the rumors say are true – Disney was doing the same thing News Corp was.

Here is the theory I have had in my mind for a while, but I was waiting for something to confirm this theory. (and its only a THEORY!)

To Disney, many at Nick and some in CN – 4Kids is a Pain in the ass, and as of 2003 – had to be destroyed. The Anime world was getting to big – and the old guard (The Union, Certain Powerful Animators and the Kids Execs) needed to protect there interests.

So, when 4Kids got One Piece – a plan was set in motion to undercut 4Kids – one because it was what is called a Non – Union company – and it hired writers that have worked in non union shows. These same companies also felt that One Piece was going to be the death knell of the industry they worked so hard to “protect” and “serve”. 4Kids wasnt the problem in the end – it was the Governmental CTA – and lack of leadership on the other that lead into the utter morass that the anime and animation industry with very small exemptions it sees themselves in.

Disney/ADV and maybe Viz – created or funded the “Arlong Park” website and folk. If what Bruce says is true – then from nearly since 2006 – around the same time Fox Bought Myspace – the Anime Pirating Business was able to stream shows. These two underhanded, and truly fradulant acts – were for 4Kids to suffer dislocation – and to end the Saturday Morning Lineups – not because they want to (Trust me, they dont) but because the Government is no longer in the business of being Government – as Peggy Noonan has stated in a recent Opinion Piece in the Wall Street Journal – but are in the business of being Insane to the core nature of their being.

Arlong Park was able to do its job, while the other part was able to theirs, Undermine 4Kids, Undermine the Dubbing Industry. But one did not realize what Al Kahn is willing to do. He bought Chaotic, made a deal for the TMNT which he successfully turned it into a great franchise not unlike the Transformers and now has made a deal with the NFL and NFL Players Union. He also have some respect with some Executives.  That respect has protected him and the company from Disney’s warpath-like wrath.

But If that Theory is true – then the anime fanbase has sold its intellectual leaders down the river, for 30 pieces of lucre – space on myspace. But they also got slammed by many in the media (the same FOX News) – and sent to jail over the wrong comic book.

Keep watching the wires folks. If this is true… There is going to be some heads rolling.

Turtles, Anime and Being A Babysitter?

Yall need to stop a minute.

Some folks are giving yall some half truths or at best – have there hearts into it but are misinformed.

First off the Turtles. Nick will never – and I repeat NEVER be as good as the 1980’s series or as great as much of the 2003 version. It is not in there nature to do so. Nick’s Advitar is once in a MILLION type series in a network that is closer more to Obama’s worldview (even before Obama was a blip in the political media) when it comes to promotion and TV series. OF fucking course were not gonna have the “dark” Turtles. But it has become most of the animation industry’s talkers and essayers modus operandi -to support the “unionized” work over the “non-union” work – and support the Bigger Corporations over the smaller Companies. This has nothing to do with being Kiddified. The fans anger is honest, and I try my damnedest not to let my biases cloud my judgement. This wasnt a huge loss for 4Kids Entertainment – this was a BIGGER loss to Mirage – Mirage is the TMNT. My real feeling is that through no fault of Al Kahn own or Mr Fred Wolf’s, Both Eastman and Laird – who both created the franchise – see the writing on the wall, and realize that they have done enough and need to move on. Some people dont see it as the end of the “True” franchise – but in reality it is.

This then leads into the next topic, and that is the anime worldview – which I have talked at length on Anime Vice on a Journal named Virtuous Queen, which will become a section of the overall site Garou Gothic.

Lets get to the nitty gritty. Gia and Jeff – From one friend (the other rival) to another – you both dont GET it. Its not about the gaming franchises, its not about the pretty Bishi’s that cant get a fucking buy rate. I STATED it on the VQueen Journal. How can you let a bunch of perverts control an industry that has been forced to conform to certain terms in order to air.

There is a reason why Seth makes money. He doesn’t give a fuck. Thats the same way Al Kahn STILL is and you misinformed misanthropes hate on Seth and Al and anybody else not towing the “Union” line – because they know how to make the cash, know how to work hard (or die trying)  and none of you idiots get it because your too horny (on the anime side) and too “progressive” (on the animation side) to sit down and talk to folk like HUMAN BEINGS.

But I think the real tragedy is that now, i feel anime in the US has lost its moral core. Disney can try and try but it will never had the right spots nor the right time to do what 4Kids did with Pokemon 10 years ago. And that I feel hurts not only this website – but every thing that deals with anime in the states now. And i feel that the racism was never in 4Kids offices. But in Arlong Park and the modern day fan-base and the transliteration crowd that is apart of this hobby. Its not a hobby (as a black man especially who still deals with questions about race even to this day) I want to deal with anymore. And the wisdom let things pass and show and to divest is a more enlightened path than staying and fighting another 5 years with no results.

I don’t know where I am going – but i realized that the perverted that hold this industry in cell i cannot fight against. They will always exist – but now they are much more powerful and prevalent. I stated to myself some time ago that – if 4Kids goes – I go. Things are in balance in the world and as one thing dies – a new thing comes along. I see the writing on the wall. Its not a happy picture. It might die – it might become a larger part of a changing Porn industry – but It will never be mainstream and never be at least somewhat respected as it was back then, because the perverts have won.

Hey – you weeboo idiots – if Al Kahn was a dumb man, how come His own TDI Digital is now working with the NFL on what could be the next big Kids’s Destination on the web and offline? 4Kids DONE? Yall GONE LOST YALL DAMN MINDS. Can any of your ADD supported Navarre and Funi and Viz and all these fuckers do that? (oh wait – Viz did, but wheres Eye Shield 21 MOTHERFUCKAS? – Not Good Enough for for the NFL RUSH?)

And this is one of the reasons why anime will be stuck on “prono” mode for the foreseeable future outside of DBZ – the Japanese are done playing Funi’s, Viz and others games and will continue the Moe/Loli game for the foreseeable future – partly because the Japanese socitity is going through a similar issue they had some 300 years back but its a bit more complicated – and the other is simple – the future of their industry is in THEIR hands NOT OURS. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEADS.

But you know what. Anime (or should I say the whole Doga Genre) can survive and thrive even its dark age. Even at this very, very and I mean VERRRRRRY late hour between total take over from the “Evil Angels” and total obscurity and censorship by governments psychopathic to its core (this is why we have a Republic and not a Democracy) the Otaku still good enough, wise enough and smart enough – and willing to work hard – can work with the Animation industry for getting what its needs – Prime Time Spots – Maybe Seth can Help – anybody can. This Genre can make more money than Disney has ever made in 70 fucking years if you just work with the animation industry. Al Kahn did it with Pokemon – others can do it to. You need work ethic! You need GUTS! You need to tell the liberals and the conservatives to follow, help or get out of the way.

But yall worried what yall between your legs 17/7 – and how much plesure you can get out of it.

Your gonna have more Rockstar North’s come at you and they will be the death knell of not only your hobby but any sort of “diversity” in the US Animation Worldview.

Lastly, Teaching used to be a great thing. A honest job. Helping the next generation. But folks – and its no fault of the kids – but they are lost. Has anybody seen “Where the Wild Things Are” and looked at Max for min? Thats how Kids USED to act. Now they have become political tools – tools of despise by the liberals, and destruction for the conservatives.

And our little brothers and sisters are now twitting, facebooking and have cell phones. Its hard to reach them.

But Teaching is no joke – but sadly its become more baby sitting and not teaching. You want proof? Go ask the kids what an exponent is and why its important. If you dont know why and the kids dont know why – then your blind, and you can teach kids where a location is when you dont even know it yourself.

So its not just sitting down and writing half truths and sometimes misinformed issues. It’s isnt about giving more corporations the right to continue to rampage our school systems by being a “voice” for an industry (or industries) that only give a damn about them when they are at there blooming stage if females and never gives a fuck about you if your male. NO.

Its about giving them a smile, while the real Teacher – brings the real knowledge to save these little ones from the intellectual damnation and socialistic degradation that has become the majority of this country and our leaders in Politics, media, education itself – and Business.

I wake up at 4 in the morning just to make a penny for my dreams. While others sit down and write what really amounts to unknown unknowns while the children talk about dreams that will never come true. And thats why I cant be one – a teacher. Because despite my anger – my vinegar – and my spite… I will never be able to save one kid from ending up the same way as one guy who ended up in jail over drugs and sex.

My heart isnt in it.

Let me say somethings:

First off, why in the flying god forsaken hell would I watch an 18 year old “remastered” show at 12 noon on a saturday Disney? Everybody has dropped the ball concerning the Power Ranger franchise and its aftermath. Who the fuck are you kidding? Its been time to give back that 12 spot back the affiliates. Nothing New – Nothing Gained.

In other such news: Whats with all this Hipster Talk with Spike Jonse? He made a much better family film than Disney has as of late. And Sendak is still one of the better kids writers even though his workload has been small as of late. Let Disney try and do a film that they don’t have to ask Tim Burton to teach them how they used to do it (accounting for social changes and the like).

And in turn, this is what the producers of Astro Boy forgot when making the movie. Too many changes, bad VA’s and way too “Disney lite” for this fan to take. Why is it that those who made or direct hard-boiled/horror/goth films – make Underrated and almost great Family Films, and those that have been stuck in trying to make the best ones always FAIL? Maybe because these directors know more about how life works than these stuck up sons of bitches over at Buena Vista?

Heres something people must understand. College isn’t what is cracked up to be, but unless you have connections – especially if your are a “minority” in this country – is either that or Jail. And you still have to pay the piper one way or the other. It is no wonder many in the ghettos in the nation – mostly the men – would rather take their chances on a free high (Cough Syrup, Marijuana) and free sex – than staying in school. When you have a society that has become controlled than it was in the 1970’s even – your gonna get the ladette yob problem in Britain – and all the rest – because life has no meaning and no purpose. And going back to the “way it was” isnt going to solve the problem – because these same drunkards and the like would rather die than live the life other people want them to live.

This leads into the Michael Jackson issue and “This Is It” Documentary. Its seems that to me – its a little overblown. MJ in my eyes was a victim of his, and other’s hubris. Lets not doubt his talent. It was obvious. The problem with me is the connections and the issues he had with his family and those he dealt with. To me – he did come at a time when the music industry was nearing a stage where many foreign interests were going to buy everything up – and kept things in American hands for a time. But the American Music industry has a very sordid past. And this past (which as kept down acts such as a multitude of Heavy Metal Bands and had almost made a mockery of Rap and other such works until it was taken over and split between what is called Coldplay (Post Modern) Rap – Southern Style and Trip-Hop (Or Techno/Auto Tune Rap)  and never was given a chance to breathe after the deaths of Biggie and TuPac) caught up with the music industry in the form of Nasper back in the late 1990’s. Because of what has happened – the talk about the Music Industry demise is almost laughable to me. It was unstable and unstainable from the day Led Zeppelin stop touring in 1980 and Lennon was killed.

Of course MJ had to believe his own hubris. He had the weight of a industry built both on great talent killed for political/social reasons and lies, tricks and deception. The Music Industry should gone the way of the majority of most Classical music has gone and by now we would have folks making due on much smaller incomes than they are now.

So you have all these teen stars, and all of these others trying to reach what MJ had. But what MJ had cant be done because the dark seedy BACKBONE of the industry is no longer in place.

So now we have the RIAA trying to save something that cant be saved. Why should it?

MJ was a victim and the victimizer – for no one will never know who killed him, and no one will ever reach that sort of fame.

That leads to my last point.

This time – its got to happen.

The day that America reaches a point of no return.

It should have happened in 1969 – but the moon landing promised us a better future.

It should have happened in 1979 – 1980 – but a new President promised America will never go down in the sunset

It should have happened truly in 1989 – race riots all over the world – but the drugs ripped any sort of common ideal and change from ever happening.

It should have happened in 1999 – where we were in the Millennium scare – and feared that the world was changing.

But if you look at it – it did change – but two years later and after 3000 lives were lost.

Now its 2009 – and if its not gonna change now – its over.

The way we live cant last forever. Something has got to give. We cant be lied about our money and our sovereignty as a nation.

When are we going to wake up?

A Lot of Things Happened While I Did “Civic Duties”

First off, I want to say one thing before I go on the bigger news of the days, weeks and YEARS ahead. The Justice System, albeit slow – is no fucking JOKE. And don’t just pooh-pooh Jury Service. Its serious.

That being said. Lets look at the two HUGE deals that Happened with 4Kids:

First, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are now in the hands of MTV/Nick/Viacom. The 60 Million dollar deal comes after Nicks broken contract with Marvel once the Disney Merger took place. Mirage no longer owns the franchise, they do get however 50 millon and 4Kids gets 10 million.

In my heart of hearts – they did well with Avatar. But this being CGI is a bit of a killer. Most of the franchise has been live action or animated. I have a feeling that it may not work as well as Nick think it will. 4Kids has made the TMNT respected – and while it didn’t get the awards Batman TAS got – it was the closest thing to it we had in a long time. NICK may try but its never going to be better than 2k3 series and will never be as good as even the 1980’s series was.

But it might single a kind of betrayal between Time Warner and 4Kids. TMNT already had plans for a Live Action Return by late 2011. With this news, Time Warner is a bit on their heels. There also being talks that a Re-Merger with CBS is in order with a 3rd company coming in. I sense Sony has been working on some sort of deal – but that would mean losing MGM in the process. That would also mean the Turtles kinda of go back whole where it all began – CBS (and by default – Group W which is now CBS Television Studios (In HOLLYWOOD)).

But there is another huge deal that one must take heed. The NFL and 4Kids are working on a Trading Card Online and Physical product games for the NFL players. A Kids version of Fantasy Football? If thats the case – 4Kids is set as long as they can make it huge (and it can). This is a very HUGE deal because of how much the NFL TV rights cost – and how the NFL has been trying to find a Kids Promotion and Development Partner. This is one of the ways 4Kids can make money on both the online and physical market – and save a old school way of growing up  (HEY MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL YOU WATCHING?) from dying in the vine.

As for things going on right now – Garou Gothic is taking its time. In fact I have so much to do. Not only we still have that Star Ocean 2 thing to finish (and since SO4 is coming to the PS3 ill will be able to give a fair review on it) but Metal Gear Solid 4 writings to finish, the final parts and pieces of the Order of the Falcon so its gonna be a while before i get all of it done and Garou Gothic ready. The worst part is the money aspect. Do i really want to spend 9 bucks month on a site I know will take 2 years to reach the masses? Its worse because there’s twitter and facebook and more people care about the content on those sites then anything i write. So why should I do a site that doesn’t even have a fraction of the stuff Myspace or others have?

But then I realized that if I dont do it – who would? The sad thing about this – there really is no “great” websites or webmasters other than the few I know anymore. Its all a part of the same “social” media that isn’t as social as you think it is. The worst thing that has happened is that as more and more folk get into these Facebook and Twitter things – the user types worse – the conversations are nothing of merit etc.

What the Internet has given us as a great tool for everything else around us. What the Internet as become is a great chain that cannot feed us, cannot serve honesty – and when it becomes censored to hell and back – it doesn’t fucking matter if the FCC or Verizon is doing the censoring – it will become a spam relic of god knows what crap people will do for a buck.

Thats is what the net will give us if its not treated as what it should be treated as. A tool. Nothing more or less.

A Tool for what exactly?

Change.

I felt the Internet was going to work a lot differently when I first started in 1999. When i saw what it has become i didn’t want much part of it. And a lot of it is bad programing structures – other times is the viruses – other times is the censorship (rightly or wrongly), and other times its just the plain stupidity of humanity as a whole.

I thought it was going to give writers, who could actually write – a second look. Instead it gave the dregs of the world more slash to spunk around with.

I thought it was going free Network TV from the FCC shackles (outside of getting and renewing a License) – instead it made them worse.

I thought the newspapers were going to get even more reporting and more in depth stories – instead, more entertainment BS.

I thought that via that internet we would have really good short info about life – but we now have longer info about crap.

But there are some places on the internet that do the things the net was ment to do. But sadly there not known as much, or their webmasters are called quacks and fools (so on and so on). Thats the users loss.

But Garou Gothic isnt going to be TwitterFied, or Facebooked. Its going to be what it should have been before.

A website we all thought every website was going to be by now.

That is what I thought the net was.

And thats what Garou Gothic is going to be.

Thats why I have made the choice – after the Star Ocean 2 posting – that Im going to work more on getting the Garou Gothic site up and running by the end of this year than posting larger works in this Journal. After Garou Gothic is ready for prime time – the blog will redirect to the site. All of the other works will be on Garou Gothic and if they come any earlier Ill give you links to them but I have my doubts that they will be any where other than Shadowness (and behind its paid wall Meng’s planning) until Garou Gothic goes up.

I still need stuff from the CBS 50th Anniversary of NFL Coverage and that is pretty much I will update this journal on. That will move as well when Garou Gothic also comes online.

This also means I will not be here for long periods of time after that Star Ocean 2 final part and review is up unless something big goes down. You can expect that Final Part in two weeks (or earlier if time permits). But in between that time and now i will do some smaller writings.

Modern American Hypocrisy at its Finest (Marge Simpson on Playboy? OMG NO)

Lets get this straight.

You mean to tell me, after Matt Groning some nine, maybe twelve years ago – told a District Court that NONE of his Creations can be parodied in such and such a manner – his people (rather, the new showrunners) breaks the law.

I thought we animation folk were put in a higher standard. We were “forced” to be in that standard after that particular judgement.

This whole issue In my eyes shows the utter hypocritical nature of the “mature” animation world view. And let it be known, I am a conservative – but i’m no prude unless it goes against the law. And folks – the new showrunners broke the law.

Not only they did this, this whole thing is in HORRIBLE taste. It goes into what I have been saying for MONTHS now. You cannot make a prude into a whore for the whole world to see. In fact – Marge is a prude, and tries her damnedest to be a good woman but many times doesn’t work out. Homer always goes back to this woman even though he would have been much happier with Clareise, etc.

The fact is – the Simpsons has become a children’s show by default. The reason being is the CTA=E/I acts (which should be called FCC – CYA and you know what CYA means by now) which hasn’t done a damn thing when it comes to education.

You know what makes it worse is that this is the further blurring between the adult realm and the kids realm – and the on going BS anime gets (some of it warranted mind you) over the censorship game etc.

But i’m gonna leave it at this: As soon as a Liberal sees money, he becomes a pesudo-conservative – when that same pesudo-conservative is a hypocrite, he always been a liberal. Think about it.
